Rising Producer Imad Puts Deep House Spin On Vallis Alps’ “Young”

Rising Producer Imad Puts Deep House Spin On Vallis Alps’ “Young”

Another day another summertime yam. Out on Deep Cntrl, rising 17 year-old producer Imad released his subtle deep house spin on Australian duo Vallis Alps’ track “Young”. Remixing an already popular indie song is not the easiest task to take on but Imad was able to transform “Young” into an ideal house tune.

So far Imad has only released remixes but he’s proving his production skills and ability to turn the calmest songs into quite the banger. He has remixed tracks for artists of all different genres ranging from John Newman to Foster ThePeople. After “Young” reached #4 on the Souncloud house charts, Imad was on our radar and we couldn’t stop listening. Vallis Alps’ vocals mixed with Imad’s beat is pretty intoxicating and creates a really beautiful track. We might have a future Kygo here so be sure to check out “Young” below!

Q&A With Young Underground Hip Hop Producer NugLife

What’s up NugLife!  Much respect on your new production EP.  Feels good to interview a true LA based underground producer.  How did you get started?  How long have you been producing?  Where were you when you created your first beat!!??

Whats good family at UGHHBLOG much respect to you guys and the platform you have set up for the underground uprising. I got started making beats in my bedroom my aunts house in Covina nothing to crazy , I was 16 just scratching the surface of things , I guess were alway learning though right ? I was playing the guitar before that and also had an older homie J Peso who was going to studios around LA and would bring me along time to time on the weekends and thats when I knew what I wanted to do. I saw it was possible to make it and there were all types of positions to fill in this creative music process.

Who is more important, the MC? or Producer?…LOL

For me, that question matters on the perspective and variables of the situation. You could have an average dope beat , or simple beat and an MC can come use their voice to take that producers beat to the next level whether it’s the story, rhyme scheme , or delivery. Visa versa , a producer can have a smacking beat or something musical that can take an artists lyrics to the next level …. In the best situations both the producer and the artist are both helping each other elevate each others part in the song mostly being synchronized with each others creative ideas in the studio .

How do you describe your unique style of production?  How are you different compared to other producers?

Id say my style is still evolving but I guess in one word I could call it “DoYou” ahaha I just try to do what sounds right to my ear .

Dope MC’s are featured on your new EP.  Tell us how you clicked up with them?

Yea, I linked Tone Oliver and Kaly Jay in the Bay Area around 2014 , Kaly is from the Fillmore of SF and showed so much love when we first started collaborating on shows and music in SF. Same with Tone except he’s from LA we just happened to meet in the bay! I met him through our photographer homie King Yazid and me and Tone began trading shows and event making some good music in the mix of it all . I also met Jaxx who sang on track 2 of the EP who I also first came across at a War of Icaza Show i was DJing at in Oakland. We are collating on some crazy Native American stuff since we share the same roots.

We really enjoyed reviewing your EP in 2017!  What are you looking forward to in the new year?

Thanks for showing the EP love, all the artists around me and myself have been working hard and having fun along the way . In the New Year I’m mostly looking forward to exploring and growing in La ! My homie Rocky G and I are cooking up a new project right now ,I also have some shows coming up in the Bay and La , possible DJ residency off Hollywood an Las Palmas starting in March so stay posted !

As a producer, who influenced you to start making beats?

As a Producer cats like George Martin , Pharrell , Quincy Jones , and Rick Rubin have influenced me on how to step in the producer space and help guide sessions and make an artist feel comfortable, to where they almost just forget they are recording and everything is natural.

Rappers nowadays think by throwing up a few videos up on social media and pushing quick projects, they can blow up overnight! Give us your view on how over saturated the market is right now with so many MC’s/Producers but not to many quality music.

The internet/digital age is crazy , depending on how you use it you can really elevate to large audiences . Good music will always prevail but shoot theres is a lot of muddy saturation in the mix and sloppy recordings , some of it is cool. In reality people are experimenting with the tools we have now at are finger tips , youtube, pro tools, internet, it’s all easy access ….. We shouldn’t ever look at any artist (saturated or unsaturated) any type of way for doing what they do , rather we should look at the audience who are supporting and providing views and plays.

Your dream collab?

J DILLA , hands down , rest in beats

How often do you perform LIVE.  Shows lined up in the near future?

I perform live here an there around the bay area and LA , keep your eyes peeled ! Got one coming up Jan 22nd with Kaly Jay in Frisco , Trap Art in La February 6th, and some DJ gigs coming up in hollywood this year, I normally post my gigs up on social media so stay posted !

Any music video in the works?

Right now you can expect a dope video coming up from Jaxx and I , I can’t say too much but its going to be a dope native rooted song. Besides that more “Red Eye Vision” episodes on youtube displaying myself and all the artists around me .

Where do you see yourself in 5yrs time?

A lot can happen in 5 years , overall I just see growth in shows, music, and my family around me . The main goal is to have everyone around me fully be eating and living comfortably off of hip hop so we can all focus on our craft to the fullest.

Here it is! Our most popular question! What is your definition of “underground hip hop”?

Underground hip hop for me is the pure roots and the come up . I mean you got hella independent cats and you got have people who are touring and eating off of their music but haven’t necessarily made it to mainstream media outlets but still maintain a steady fan base , style , and stay true to ideas and art form.

Where can people find you on the web? Drop all the vital links.

Most of my stuff stems from nuglifeproductions.com ! you can find me on soundcloud, instagram, and most platforms under “NugLife Productions” or NugLife

Lastly, and shout out? (friends, family, management, etc)

Shout out to my family , my supporters , and anyone who has helped motivate and inspire me along the way… Also shout out to the ones who’ve doubted , that always helps give an extra push to go harder . More specifically though shout out to my mom and pops for the life guidance and my OG’s Nite Owl , J Peso, and Big Gene managment for teaching me the different perspectives and lanes of hip hop and life .Also shout out my artist family Hella Positive, Top Notch Era, Rocky G, Tone Oliver , Kaly Jay & TPT , Billy Lo, War of Icaza, Kwesi, Mama management, DJ Ewock, Acid bath, Drew $ , Lost & Found , Ham , Maska, Kosuke, Green Scene Tv, King Yazid , shit there’s so many along the way I can’t even name them all….Oh yeah shout out to guys at UGHH Blog for the love !
