Symbiosis Gathering is just a few days away and I can hardly contain my excitement! As the days inch closer and closer, we over at TSS decided to put together a list of our must see acts at the festival. With such an eclectic musical lineup ranging from heavy bass to minimal techno, this was no easy feat. However, we managed to narrow it down to our top five.
Sister duo CocoRosie is at the very top of the list. Bianca and Sierra Casady make some of the most unique music you will ever hear, frequently being described as “freak folk.” The two incorporate guitars and harps as well as other exotic percussions to accompany their eerily enchanting vocals. Their live sets include a live band consisting of a bassist, keyboard, and beatboxer which will definitely make for one hell of a performance.
2. Minnesota B2B G Jones
One of my favorite things about Minnesota is his ability to bring some incredibly filthy bass too the dance floor while still managing to keep things light through a beautiful melody. Similarly, G Jones throws down heavy bass along with some funky glitch to keep things groovy. Minn and G Jones clearly have a strong spark and will without a doubt bring something remarkable to Symbiosis with their B2B this year.
Next up is Tetrameth. Hailing all the way from Australia, Tetrameth is known for his experimental tracks that feature some psychedelic yet progressive flair. His songs are more than just music, but also an experience. The crowd is definitely going to leave Tetrameth’s set with a different outlook on the festival.
4. Ganga Giri.
One of my favorite things about the Symbiosis musical lineup is that it goes beyond just your typical DJ sets and instead also includes a wide variety of live bands. Ganga Giri uses the Traditional Australian Didjeridu as the highlight in all of his songs. Blending this instrument with other miscellaneous tribal percussions along with a dash of funk makes for some truly impressive tracks.
5. Justin Martin
Last but not least is Justin Martin. Being from the Bay Area myself, everyone on the Dirtybird Records roster holds a special place in my heart, and for good reason. Time and time again, they’ve proven to throw down, and Justin Martin is no different. Martin’s music is best described as tech/house, but his passion and bright energy are really what enhance his live performances. After this set, you’ll understand why the Dirtybird family is so strongly bonded and want to become a little dirtybird yourself.
There’s our top five. Who are you excited to see at Symbiosis?! Let us know in the comments below! And don’t forget to purchase your experience passes to Symbiosis Gathering here! See you at the lake!
