Hip-hop and R&B has its share of rappers and singers who get a high amount of hype before they blow up. Some live up to expectations, but most never really do. One artist who fits the latter description is crooner J. Holiday. The Chocolate City native, who’s still a respected singer-rapper in some circles, turns 31 years old today (Nov. 29).
On Eminem’s song “Without Me,” Obie Trice spits, “Obie Trice / Real name, no gimmicks.” When it comes to the Detroit native, that quote is very accurate. The former Shady Records artist turns 38 years old today (Nov. 14).
Some recognize Tevin Campbell from a Wu-Tang Clan lyric (“He vandal too hot to handle / You battle, you’re sayin’ goodbye like Tevin Campbell”). Others know him as one of the biggest teen heartthrobs to rise from the New Jack Swing era. Campbell turns turns 39 years old today (Nov. 12).
