Breakaway Music Festival 2017 Gears Up For Another Stunning Year
Last year Breakaway Music Festival pulled out all the stops. They brought GRAMMY Award winner Chance The Rapper out among other incredible performers. The event was well ran and they are excited to gear up for another festival this year. The two-day, outdoor music event including headlining and up-and-coming artists that breakaway from traditional music genres will take place Sept. 1-2, 2017.
The festival was attended by over 20,000 and received accolades on its well-balanced bill which included Rae Sremmurd, Young Thug, Dillon Francis, RL Grime and 21 additional acts (not including the 20+ Silent Disco performers).
“Breakaway in 2016 exceeded our expectations and we felt it was only fitting to bring it back to MAPFRE Stadium (where the event was birthed in 2013),” said Zach Ruben, co-founder of Prime Social Group. “This allows for enhanced amenities including easy parking, quality restroom facilities and on-brand food and beverage options. The options for production enhancements are almost limitless as well.”
Breakaway Music Festival made its debut in 2013 at MAPFRE Stadium then re-emerged in 2016 at the adjacent Ohio Expo Center Fairgrounds. In addition to today’s announcement of Breakaway Columbus, festival organizers are proud to expand the brand to Grand Rapids for the first ever Breakaway Michigan.
Early bird ticketing begins Friday, April 14, at 12 PM EST. Two-day early bird tickets start at $ 70 for GA, $ 130 for VIP. Decadence NYE Continues To Flourish, Delivers Yet Another Star Studded Lineup
Year after year I find myself with countless options when it comes to dope places to bring in the New Year. Everyone is always on their A-game because they know the masses are looking to get out and celebrate. I can think of at least three festivals off the top not called Decadence that have been putting on amazing NYE parties the past few years. However, when all things are considered I still only see one clear cut winner and that is definitely Decadence.
The lineup is always up there with the best and this year is no different. Off jump a few things really stand out to me: the return of Bassnectar, the coloration of Eric Prydz/Flume posters and of course RL Grime vs Baauer. I’m not super surprised that Bassnectar is back in Denver; last year he killed it before jetting to Birmingham for his annual gig and he always gets mad love out there. I just want to see what the man has in store because it’s always a treat watching him work and it seems he has a way of changing the whole feel of the festival. This could just be pure speculation but I do find it odd that Eric Prydz and Flume are the only ones with different posters. Last year Deadmau5 brought his own stage production so maybe Prydz and Flume have been granted some leeway to do more with their set? It would be a real treat to catch that “Epic 4.0” live show for those who haven’t caught Prydz on tour. Then you have RL Grime vs Baauer and this is just something that I’ve never seen before but feel like I’ve dreamed about. The two separate from each other put on dirty shows so I can’t imagine them in a planned b2b; this is a must see!
Of course those guys aren’t the only reason you should make your way to Decadence this December. Huge acts like Griz, The Chainsmokers, Zeds Dead, Disclosure, Marshmello and many more will be in the building as well to make sure your experience is nothing short of phenomenal. Not to mention the tickets are reasonably priced and the Colorado Convention Center is something you have to see in person to fully understand. We are still a couple of months out so there is time but don’t sleep on this! Check out their socials for updates, I’m convinced they will have more big news coming soon.
Excision Drops Another Monster Shambhala Mix & Huge New Song “The Paradox”
Any day new Excision gets released is obviously bound for greatness, and this amazing Wednesday is no different. Ladies and gentlemen the legendary Shambhala mix has finally dropped. If you’re unaware/living under a rock, Excision drops these monster mixes every year and they truly are an insane culmination of bass music. The amazing Canadian dubstep pioneer, is just an absolute beast on the decks and these mixes are simply perfect if you need to run through a brick wall. With an incredible collection of head baning tunes this mix is without question a must have for anyone that calls themselves a basshead, so grab the free DL and blast this one for the whole block.
Also, considering that Jeff is also the f***ing man he’s also dropped a brand new track along with this mix. If you saw him on his most recent tour then you have for sure heard his monstrous track “The Paradox”. Like a lot of Excisions incredibly awesome music this one ain’t for the feint of heart, so if your a fan of having that face melt off you can scoop up this track & a bunch of others from the mix on Itunes. Enjoy!
If you’ve payed attention to what’s going on around the globe recently, it might be kinda easy to get a bit down from all the ugliness running around. Thankfully we have incredible artists, like the one and only Griz, to help remind us that the world doesn’t suck so bad.
This new track “Can’t Hold Me Down” almost reminds me of a 1960’s rock song with that signature Griz flair thrown in there. The guitar absolutely shreds and the bass-line has that crunchy filthy goodness we all know and love. Throw everything together and this one is just a straight up future funk jam.
Griz – Can’t Hold Me Down (Ft.Tash Neal of The London Souls) |
Griz is gearing up to drop his third album Good Will Prevail which will easily go down as one of the best releases of 2016, so you can cop this amazing track plus all the others in the near future. Also be sure to check out Grant’s tour dates below. If he’s coming through your city you’ll never forgive yourself for missing Griz sax it up live. Enjoy.
ScHoolboy Q Drops Another Music Video + Album Tour Dates
A few days ago ScHoolboy Q was kind enough to give the world a glimpse at his upcoming Blank Face LP with a music video that not only previewed the crazy great track “By Any Means”, but was also a short film that highlighted street life in South Central. Today we not only get part 2 to ScHoolboy Q’s LA story, but ANOTHER FIRE track off his new album as well.
“Tookie Knows II” is the final track on the LP and features some sick guest verses from Traffic & TF. The beat has a dark laid back vibe to it but the lyrics are anything but that. All three rappers just go absolutely in on this one and create a seriously menacing song that cements why ScHoolboy Q and his crew are not people to be f**ked with.
ScHoolboy Q – Tookie Knows II: Part (2) |
ScHoolboy is also going to be touring a select number of cities to support the release of his new album so be sure to scoop up some tickets to one of the Groovy Tony Pit Stops and grab the album when it drops July 8th.
Netsky Works Out Another Hit With Digital Farm Animals
Netsky and Digital Animal Farms are back at and this time with another Drum & Bass dream. If you remember “Rio,” and all it’s glory then prepare for another song to lose yourself to. “Work It Out,” might take on a slower tempo with its heavy piano influences, but it picks up sweet momentum at the chorus as the lyrics and bass pour out of your speakers. I dare you to press play without singing and dancing because quite honestly, it’s impossible.

As cooler weather sets in, many of us dream of being on a beautiful Caribbean beach, with not a care in the world. Electric Paradise makes that dream possible, with the added bonus of a stacked lineup, including Skrillex, Porter Robinson, Major Lazer, Steve Angello, Anna Lunoe, and many more. Leading up to the event, the festival launched its own mix series, with the first piece premiering last week from Anjunadeep’s rising star, Moon Boots. For this week’s episode, Electric Paradise has recruited British artist, Zen Freeman, for an 80-minute journey filled with a fusion of tech house and summery vibes. The mix features tracks from Hot Since 82, Claptone, Oliver Heldens, Michael Calfan, and a handful of his own unreleased music, four of which have yet to be named. Tickets are still available for the December 19 event, and it’s sure to be a good time.
